Neural, autonomic, and behavioral responses were recorded throughout the task.\n\nThe released dataset includes:\n\n* EEG recordings (8 channels, 250 Hz)\n* Electrodermal Activity (EDA)\n* Blood Volume Pulse (BVP)\n* Interbeat Interval (IBI)\n* Skin Temperature\n* Behavioral event markers corresponding to word generation and word selection\n* Semantic similarity measures between consecutive words\n\n## Experimental Task\n\nParticipants completed a word association task focused on emotionally relevant concepts associated with fear.\n\nDuring the task, words were suggested to participants. Participants could either:\n\n1. Select one of the suggested words.\n2. Generate a different word of their own choice.\n\nEach response was timestamped and synchronized with physiological recordings.\n\nExperimental sessions lasted approximately three minutes.\n\n## EEG Acquisition\n\nEEG signals were acquired using:\n\n* OpenBCI Cyton acquisition board\n* Ultracortex Mark IV headset\n\nEight EEG channels were positioned at:\n\n* Fp1\n* Fp2\n* F3\n* F4\n* P7\n* P8\n* O1\n* O2\n\nEEG data were sampled at 250 Hz.\n\nTwo ear-clip electrodes attached to the earlobes were used during acquisition.\n\n## Physiological Signal Acquisition\n\nAutonomic physiological signals were acquired using an Empatica E4 wristband.\n\nThe following physiological signals are included in the released dataset:\n\n* Electrodermal Activity (EDA)\n* Blood Volume Pulse (BVP)\n* Interbeat Interval (IBI)\n* Skin Temperature\n\nAlthough the Empatica E4 device is capable of recording triaxial acceleration, accelerometry data were not available in the exported recordings and are therefore not included in this release.\n\n## Event Information\n\nEvent files contain the following variables:\n\n| Variable | Description |\n| ----------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |\n| onset | Time in seconds relative to the beginning of the task |\n| duration | Event duration in seconds (0 for instantaneous events) |\n| trial_type | Event type |\n| Word | Word selected or generated by the participant |\n| Correlation | Semantic similarity score relative to the previous word |\n| NewWord | Indicates whether the participant generated a new word (TRUE) or selected a suggested word (FALSE) |\n\nThe Correlation variable represents the semantic similarity between consecutive words produced by the participant and may be useful for studying semantic transitions and associative processes.\n\n## Synchronization\n\nAll data streams were timestamped during acquisition, allowing synchronization between:\n\n* EEG recordings\n* Physiological recordings\n* Behavioral word events\n\nEvent onset values included in the BIDS event files were derived from these timestamps.\n\n## Missing Data\n\nPhysiological recordings from participant 7 were unavailable due to a data acquisition error affecting the Empatica E4 recording system.\n\nEEG recordings and behavioral event data remain available for this participant.\n\n## Anonymization\n\nAll participant identifiers were removed prior to publication.\n\nThe dataset does not contain:\n\n* Personal identifying information\n* Facial images\n* Structural MRI data\n* Functional MRI data\n\nParticipants are represented only through anonymized subject identifiers.\n\n## Data Quality Notes\n\nThe dataset contains raw physiological recordings acquired under real experimental conditions.\n\nSignal quality may vary across participants and channels due to:\n\n* Variability in electrode contact\n* Motion artifacts\n* Physiological variability\n* Wireless acquisition conditions\n\nUsers are encouraged to perform their own preprocessing and quality control procedures before conducting analyses.\n\n## Funding and Citation\nThis project had financial support from SECIHTI through the awarded Ciencia de Frontera 2023 grant, Project ID: CF-2023-G-583\n\nPlease cite the associated publication(s) when using this dataset.\nBlanco-Ríos, M.
